New Continente Modelo store in São Vicente built by Tecnovia Madeira
Tecnovia Madeira successfully completed the construction of the new Continente Modelo store in São Vicente, officially inaugurated this Wednesday, July 30th. This is the first infrastructure of its kind in the municipality, which until now had no hypermarket, marking a historic milestone for the local population and the development of the north coast of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several authorities, including the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, the Mayor of São Vicente, José António Garcês, the CEO of MC, Luís Moutinho, and the Director of Operations for Continente Madeira, José Carlos Salvado.
First hypermarket in the municipality
Located in the center of São Vicente, this new store addresses a long-standing need by bringing essential goods and convenience services closer to the community. The building has a total constructed area of 2,244 m², including 1,176 m² of sales area and 67 parking spaces, ensuring an accessible and functional space.
A complete and technically demanding project
Tecnovia Madeira was responsible for the full execution of the construction work. The building features a metal structure with reinforced concrete foundations, a ceiling height of 6.5 meters, and a mezzanine built with composite slabs.
📌 Space layout:
-
Ground floor: main commercial area, two independent stores (Wash and WOO), warehouses, and cold storage rooms.
-
First floor (mezzanine): social areas and offices.
Contributing to local growth
The new store created 60 new jobs and represents an investment with a direct impact on the local economy. By reducing the need for long-distance travel, it also helps to lower the region’s carbon footprint.
This project is part of a broader collaboration between MC and Tecnovia, which has been strengthened through other works such as the Continente Modelo stores in Madalena and Lagoa, in the Azores. It is a partnership built on mutual trust, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to the sustainable development of the regions where both companies operate.
The São Vicente store is a clear example of Tecnovia Madeira’s ongoing commitment to supporting the progress of local communities by delivering solutions tailored to the needs of clients and the population.
