Tecnovia conducts emergency drill at the Viseu Industrial Centre
On January 14, 2026, Tecnovia conducted a full-scale safety drill at its industrial center in Viseu. The objective was to test the effectiveness of the Internal Emergency Plan (PEI) and reinforce coordination with external relief forces.
Complex Emergency Scenario
The exercise involved approximately 35 participants and recreated an emergency scenario near the asphalt plant. The simulation began with the outbreak of two distinct fires involving solid materials and flammable liquids, which resulted in a “victim” being trapped in a hard-to-reach location.
Following the alert given by the Safety Officer and the total evacuation of workers to the Assembly Point, external emergency resources were deployed, including the Municipal Civil Protection Service, the Viseu Sapadores Firefighters, and the Viseu Volunteer Firefighters.
Technical Rescue Operation
One of the key moments of the drill was the victim rescue operation. The rescue teams executed Technical Angle Rescue (RTA) maneuvers, a specialized technique utilizing rope systems and anchors to move victims across inclined planes and vertical zones. This technique ensures the stabilization and safe descent of the victim for subsequent handover to pre-hospital care providers.
Objectives and Environmental Protection
Framed within the Self-Protection Measures approved by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), the main objectives of this exercise were:
-
Testing response times: From the detection of the incident to total evacuation and the arrival of emergency services.
-
Team training: Improving the performance of first intervention teams and coordination with fire brigades.
-
Environmental protection: Validating procedures for containing hazardous substance spills, ensuring the protection of drainage networks and soil in the event of an industrial accident.
The drill concluded at 3:28 PM, following confirmation of the safety of all facilities and participants. The periodic execution of these initiatives reaffirms Tecnovia’s commitment to a culture of safety, ensuring that employees and facilities are prepared to respond effectively to risk situations.
