Tecnovia at the 13th Civil Engineering Conference of the Instituto Superior Técnico

Tecnovia was present at the 13th Civil Engineering Conference of the Instituto Superior Técnico, held on 2 and 3 March at the Civil Engineering Pavilion.

This initiative was an excellent opportunity to share technical knowledge and experience gained in the various engineering projects developed by the Group, reinforcing its close ties with the academic world.

The event also provided an opportunity to present the ‘Start Your Story’ internship programme to students, showcasing the opportunities for professional development and integration into the Tecnovia universe.

Reference Projects in an Island Context

On the first day of the event, Tecnovia Madeira was represented by Eng. Roberto Carreiro, who presented the topic ‘Underground Works on the Island of Porto Santo – Saltwater Collection Gallery in Porto Santo’, sharing the main technical challenges and solutions adopted in a highly complex and unique project.

This was followed by a presentation by Tecnovia Açores, with Engineer Filipe Palha presenting the topic “Tecnovia Açores and the Hotel Industry – A Retrospective on the Construction of a Hotel in the Middle of the Atlantic”, focusing on the DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Açores project, which was awarded 2nd place in the 2025 National Real Estate Awards, in the Tourism category, one of the most important distinctions in the sector in Portugal.

Sustainability in Civil Engineering

During the afternoon, at the Civil Museum, Engineer Nuno Fernandes presented the topic ‘Sustainability in Civil Engineering: from discourse to practice’, reflecting on how the construction sector can effectively integrate sustainability principles into its processes, promoting more responsible solutions that are aligned with current environmental challenges.

‘Start Your Story’ Internship Programme

Tecnovia’s participation in the Civil Engineering Days was also an opportunity to promote the ‘Start Your Story’ internship programme to the academic community. This initiative provides young talents with direct contact with landmark projects, sustainable practices and multidisciplinary teams, encouraging them to start their professional career in a leading organisation in the civil engineering sector.
