50 Years of Tecnovia Açores: A history we celebrate together

Over the course of 2026, the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Tecnovia Azores traveled across the archipelago from island to island in a memorable journey marking half a century of operation in the region, in perfect harmony with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. This series of festive events represented a unique tribute to identity, resilience, and a collective journey built hand in hand with the archipelago.

The commemorative tour brought Tecnovia’s celebrations to every corner of the Azorean territory, gathering local communities, our employees, and prominent institutional figures from across the islands. Each stop celebrated the company’s historic involvement in the most vital structural projects of the islands and the close bond that connects us to their people.

Music and emotion served as the unifying thread throughout the entire journey. On every island, the unmistakable voice of fado singer Katia Guerreiro took the stage in concerts celebrating the cultural diversity and soul of the Azores, complementing moments of meaningful connection.

HIGHLIGHTS: A MAGICAL EVENING AT TEATRO MICAELENSE

One of the crowning moments of this journey—and the central focus of our highlight video—was the celebration in Ponta Delgada, hosted at the iconic Teatro Micaelense.

This venue holds a long-standing and deeply meaningful relationship with Tecnovia. Over the years, our company has been an active partner of Azorean culture, continuously supporting and sponsoring major shows and events at this prestigious artistic institution. Celebrating five decades of our history in this space reaffirms our ongoing commitment to the talent and culture of the Autonomous Region.

LAUNCH OF THE BOOK “TECNOVIA 50 YEARS”

One of the most solemn and significant moments of these celebrations was the release of the book “Tecnovia 50 anos”, authored by Eng. José Carlos de Magalhães Cymbron. Launched in June 2026, the book was presented during the official ceremonies celebrating this milestone.

The publication serves as a valuable historical record, preserving the collective memory and the strong connection of the construction company to the development of the archipelago over its half-century of operation.

TRADITION AND RECOGNITION: FAMILY PRESENCE AND THE INSIGNIA OF MERIT

The family spirit and longevity of Tecnovia were celebrated with heartfelt emotion through the presence of the founder’s entire family. This gathering of generations from the Costa family embodies the stability, cohesion, and intergenerational values that guide our organization. Among the notable attendees, the presence of Mr. José Guilherme Jorge da Costa, founder of Tecnovia, was particularly meaningful.

The deep connection and historical contribution of the company to the development of the Azores were also officially recognized. Founder José Guilherme Jorge da Costa was awarded the prestigious Autonomous Insignia of Industrial, Commercial, and Agricultural Merit, a fitting tribute to his pioneering role in improving essential infrastructure and quality of life across the islands.
