How Tecnovia makes integration a success story

They left everything behind, but gained an opportunity. The story of the immigrant workers at Tecnovia shows how integration is achieved with respect and equality.

The Renascença article, published on 15 July, highlighted the integration of foreign workers in the construction sector in mainland Portugal, presenting Tecnovia as an example of good practice in this area.

More than just figures, the report highlights the fundamental contribution of these professionals, without whom many projects would not be possible. The report gives a voice to those who, coming from afar, have found a new life opportunity in Portugal.

Opportunities that transform lives

Many immigrants set off in search of better living conditions, leaving their families and homelands behind. In Portugal, they seek stability, security and opportunities for progress.

Throughout the report, we hear testimonies from various Tecnovia employees who, coming from different parts of the world, have found decent working conditions, professional recognition and opportunities for integration.

Frederico Rodrigues, Tecnovia’s Human Resources Director, emphasises the company’s commitment:

“It’s essential to welcome them well, integrate them socially, train them and guarantee their safety on site.”

Integration goes far beyond the workplace. Tecnovia also monitors legal immigration processes, ensuring that all documentation is handled transparently and legally.

Commitment to Equality

Of the group’s more than 700 employees in mainland Portugal, 214 are immigrants from more than ten different nationalities. These figures reflect a clear commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Rui Lucena, a member of Tecnovia’s Executive Committee, says:

“Portugal currently doesn’t have enough internal resources to meet the needs of the construction sector. Immigrants are part of the solution, not the problem. Without these people, many projects wouldn’t go ahead.”

Equality is a real and practised principle in the company:

In terms of salary, a foreign worker earns exactly the same as a national worker. There is no discrimination whatsoever. In addition, because they are deployed, they benefit from perks such as accommodation and logistical support, including an annual trip to their country of origin.

Diversity that enriches

At Tecnovia, we recognise the value of our immigrant employees. We value their effort, professionalism and the dignity with which they face challenges. They are part of our team and our history. They are part of who we are and the future we are building.
