Tecnovia awarded with the construction of a new bridge in Tavira

The Municipality of Tavira and Tecnovia S.A. signed today the contract for the construction of the new bridge over the Gilão River in the Connection of Largo da Caracolinha to Rua do Cais in Tavira.

Awarded for the value of € 1 472 334, this infrastructure will replace the current temporary bridge built during the floods of 1989.

The new bridge will include a one-way light motorway, a pedestrian road and a two-way bicycle lane.

The project carried out by A2P – Estudos e Projetos contemplates the execution of a bridge with slab tray in prestressed concrete, supported on the banks and on 2 pillars in the river bed, with 3 spans of 26.68 m + 33.40 m + 26.68 m.

The slab has a rib of 2.3 m wide and a total height of 1.0 m and side consoles with 3.85 m and variable thickness of 0.25 m to 0.35 m.

In a first phase, the slab rib will be constructed supported on the existing metallic structure that will constitute the falsework for the concretion. The side consoles will be carried out in a second stage with a movable spindle supported on the central rib and will be transversely pre-stressed.

The existing structure will then be demolished.

The foundations of the pillars will be carried out by 15 micropiles headed in the zone of extension of the pillars. The meetings, integrated in the wall, will be constituted by a staggered beam supported on 12 micropiles.

With a term of execution of 500 days, the work will be perfectly framed in the landscape of the riverside area of ​​Tavira and will substantially improve the conditions of mobility of the population.
