New Porto Santo Health Centre contract awarded to a consortium with Tecnovia Madeira and Farrobo

The Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructure has awarded the contract for the second phase of the Porto Santo Local Health Centre to the consortium formed by Tecnovia Madeira, AFAVIAS – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. and Farrobo, Sociedade de Construções S.A. The works, valued at €28,997,000, have a completion period of 720 days.

Conclusion of an essential infrastructure project

The second phase of the works aims to complete the project commenced in the first phase, during which the peripheral retaining works for the site were carried out and the entire building structure was constructed. This final phase involves the completion of the Porto Santo Local Health Unit, specifically the finishing works to the interior and exterior, including roads, pavements and associated support infrastructure, as well as the installation of all the technical and functional equipment essential for the unit to operate fully.

A modern and sustainable infrastructure

The building has been designed with solutions that promote its self-sustaining and sustainable maintenance, reducing reliance on external resources and ensuring durability and efficiency over time. The construction aims to provide an energy-efficient infrastructure, equipped with an emergency service offering a greater response capacity, as well as expanding the provision of healthcare to the population.

With a gross floor area of 6,150 m², spread over a single floor and including technical areas on the roof, the new facility will enable an expansion of service provision, including consultations, 24-hour care, inpatient care and specialised treatments.

Meeting the population’s healthcare needs

The new building will replace the current health centre, whose physical structure has reached the limits of its capacity for expansion and modernisation. The infrastructure comprises two essential components:

  • Local Health Unit (ULS), offering general and specialist medical services, which will occupy most of the building
  • Long-Term Care Unit (UCCLD), located in a separate wing, but with the possibility of sharing certain services functionally and operationally

For Tecnovia Madeira and Farrobo, delivering this vital infrastructure for the island of Porto Santo represents a commitment to the development of local communities and to the construction of facilities essential to the well-being of the population.
