Tecnovia signs contract with the Navy for the construction of the IH-SENSORTECH building in Seixal
Tecnovia has signed a construction contract with the Portuguese Navy Hydrographic Institute for the construction of IH-SENSORTECH, to be implemented at the Azinheira Hydrographic Base (BHA) in Seixal.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bruno Jeremias, Director of Tecnovia, following the formal protocol characteristic of Navy ceremonies.
A strategic project for maritime innovation
This building will house the future Ocean Observation Technology Development Centre – IH-SENSORTECH, a strategic infrastructure that aims to drive technological innovation in the Portuguese maritime sector. The project involves the construction of spaces to accommodate start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) dedicated to the development of ocean observation and exploration technologies.
The SENSORTECH building will also include an Autonomous Vehicle Laboratory (LVA), specially designed for maintenance, repair, reconfiguration and calibration of vehicles up to 4 tonnes, as well as an autonomous vehicle piloting centre, essential equipment for modern oceanographic research.
Investment under the PRR
The project is part of investment “TC-C10-i03 – Atlantic Defence Operations Centre and Naval Platform” of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), demonstrating the national commitment to developing technological and scientific capabilities in the maritime domain.
Strengthening Portuguese technological autonomy
With this new infrastructure, the Hydrographic Institute reinforces its role in research, development and technological innovation applied to the observation and sustainable exploitation of the ocean. The project contributes significantly to strengthening Portugal’s technological and scientific autonomy in the maritime domain, a strategic area for the country.
For Tecnovia, this contract represents yet another opportunity to contribute to projects of national importance, putting its experience and technical expertise at the service of Portuguese innovation and technological development.
