Description

The contract for the “Bypass to the EN 108 in Entre-os-Rios, and the bypass to the EN 224 between the EN 108 and the EN 222” spans approximately 5.7 km, has 5 junctions, involves the replacement of 12 roads, 7 of them associated with ongoing special projects (5 overpasses and 2 underpasses for agricultural purposes) and the remaining work is performed in tandem, on roads or paths.

The course of the road follows the slopes above the Tâmega and Douro rivers, through extremely rough terrain with steep slopes, which presents great difficulties to roadbuilding.

Among the main works, we highlight the following:

• Mechanical excavation – 812 295 m3

• Excavation with the use of explosives – 187 845 m3

• Landfill – 511 267 m3

• Walls with gabions – 9 526 m3

• Reinforced Earth Walls – 6,132 m2

• Walls anchored with reinforced concrete – 18 021 m2

• Walls fixed with shotcrete – 11 172 m2
