Operated by Tecnovia S.A. since 2009, the Monte das Flores granite quarry offers excellent characteristics for manufacturing aggregates for the construction industry. The quality of the aggregates produced here has been recognised since operations began in 1974, and it is one of the oldest quarries in the country homologated by REFER (now IP S.A.) to manufacture railway ballast.
Located approximately 7 km outside Évora, next to the EN 380, towards Alcáçovas, with its own railway branch, aggregates produced at Monte das Flores can be directly transported by road or rail.
Production and qaulity control are performed by Tecnovia-s laboratory in compliance with the applicable testing standards. The quality management systems at Monte das Flores are NP EN ISO 9001 certified, and aggregates and bituminous mixtures bear CE marking in compliance with harmonised product standards.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
The Monte das Flores quarry produces aggregates of various grain sizes, from ballast and riprap to gravel, coarse sand and natural washed sand. The aggregates can be used in architecture, construction and civil engineering, namely in railways, pavements, mortars, ready-mix concrete, precast concrete, bituminous mixtures and micro-agglomerates. The natural sands have also been successfully used to create artificial beaches, such as the Monsaraz and Mourão beaches.
The range of available aggregates is predetermined, but other grain sizes can also be produced upon consultation.

The Aivados bituminous mixtures plant is equipped to produce various types of hot bituminous mixtures, such as traditional mixtures, polymer- or rubber-modified mixtures, mixtures with pigments, fibres or similar additives, and reclaimed bituminous mixtures.
The Aivados plant produces a predetermined range of bituminous mixtures, but other mixtures can be produced upon consultation.

The Monte das Flores testing laboratory can perform all current tests on produced materials, including the Los Angeles and MicroDeval tests, and can also perform other tests upon consultation.
