CASTRO VERDE – Aivados
The Aivados Industrial Centre has been operated by Tecnovia S.A. since 1985, and is located near the IC1, approximately 9 km north of Ourique. It is well-know for supplying aggregates, ready-mix concrete and bituminous mixtures, and also has a collection centre for construction and demolition waste – CDW.
The rhyolite-dacite exploited at the Aivados quarry has a high resistance to compression, fragmentation and wear, which makes it ideal for road pavements with demanding requirements. In 2003, REFER (now IP S.A.) homologated the railway ballast produced here, in yet another testament to its quality.
Production and quality control is performed by Tecnovia’s laboratory in compliance with the applicable testing standards. The quality management systems at Aivados are NP EN ISO 9001 certified, the aggregates and bituminous mixtures carry CE marking in compliance with harmonised product standards, and the ready-mix concrete is EN 206 -1 certified.

The Aivados industrial centre produces aggregates of various grain sizes, from riprap and ballast to gravel, coarse sand and natural washed sand. These aggregates can be used in construction and civil engineering, namely in railways, pavements, mortars, ready-mix concrete, precast concrete, micro-agglomerates and bituminous mixtures, as well as in more demanding applications, such as rough drainage layers for pavements.
The range of available aggregates is predetermined, but other grain sizes can also be produced upon consultation.

The Aivados bituminous mixtures plant is equipped to produce various types of hot bituminous mixtures, such as traditional mixtures, polymer- or rubber-modified mixtures, mixtures with pigments, fibres or similar additives, and reclaimed bituminous mixtures.
The Aivados plant produces a predetermined range of bituminous mixtures, but other mixtures can be produced upon consultation.

The Aivados concrete plant produces concrete of all strength classes, with a prescribed composition, light concrete and pigmented concrete. We also possess the technical skills to meet specific needs our clients may have, thus ensuring specific contracted requirements.
The fleet of concrete mixers and concrete pumps at this plant is scaled according to the client’s needs and requirements.
The ready-mixed concrete produced at Aivados can be used in the most demanding construction and civil engineering work, as it is NP EN 206-1 certified, in compliance with Decree-Law No. 301/2007 of 23 August.
The Aivados- Casével – Castro Verde collection centre for construction and demolition waste is licenced to process various types of CDW. Containers for packing and transporting waste are available to rent in compliance with the legislation in force.

The Aivados testing laboratory tests soils, aggregates, concrete, cement grouts, bituminous mixtures and performs on-site tests in compliance with the testing standards or technical specifications in force in Portugal.
The measuring and monitoring equipment is subject to metrological control, and our activities are internally and externally audited, within the scope of quality certification and production control.
