SÃO MIGUEL
The industrial plant at Mata dos Cavacos, in São Miguel, is the head office for Tecnovia Açores and Tecnovia Ambiente, and is located approximately 8 km from the city of Ponta Delgada and 10 km from the city of Ribeira Grande, next to the regional road ER 3-1ª.
Comprising multiple production facilities, the plant is well-know for producing aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and bituminous mixtures. It also includes a centre for collecting, recycling, and sorting construction and demolition waste – CDW – and a facility for producing wood pellets under the Ocean Pellets brand.
The quality management systems at the plant are NP EN ISO 9001 certified, and the aggregates and bituminous mixtures bear CE marking in accordance with harmonised product standards.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
The basalt rock from the quarry at Mata dos Cavacos is the raw material for aggregates of various sizes, from gravel to pit-run gravel and stone dust, which are used in construction and civil engineering. We also produce recycled aggregates through from CDW.
The range of available aggregates is indicated here, and other grain sizes may also be produced upon request. The performance measurements for aggregates are provided upon request (see contacts).

The Mata dos Cavacos bituminous mixtures plant produces hot bituminous mixtures for use in roads, airports or other heavy-duty surfaces.
The Mata dos Cavacos plant produces a predetermined range of bituminous mixtures, and performance measurements are provided upon request.

The Mata dos Cavacos concrete plant produces concrete of all strength classes, lightweight concrete, pigmented concrete, and concrete with a prescribed composition, to meet the requirements of clients and contract work.
The fleet of concrete mixers and concrete pumps at this plant is scaled according to the needs of our clients.
The sorting and recycling centre for construction and demolition waste – CDW – operated by Tecnovia Ambiente on the island of Terceira is licensed to process various types of waste.
The centre rents containers with a 6m3 capacity for packing and transporting waste in accordance with the legal regulations in force, and also offers technical advisory services regarding waste management.

The company is qualified to issue technical opinions regarding the removal of asbestos-bearing waste.
The pelletizing line has a production capacity of 3 tons per hour, manufacturing wood pellets from wood logs, using raw materials obtained in the region, and promoting renewable energy and the circular economy.
Tecnovia Ocean Pellets can be supplied in big-bags with a capacity of 100 kg, or in 15 kg bags.
Tecnovia Ambiente is seeking certification for its Ocean Pellets according to internationally harmonised requirements, under the industry-recognised ENplus system.

The industrial facility at São Miguel has a quality control laboratory, equipped with all the technical and human resources required to test soils, aggregates, concrete, and bituminous mixtures in compliance with the testing standards and technical specifications in force in Portugal.
